The Texas notary process, plainly explained.
How does the notary process work in Texas?+
You book a time, appear in person (or by approved remote online notarization), present a valid photo ID, and sign the document in the notary's presence. The notary then completes the certificate, applies the Texas seal, and records the act in the official journal. Texas notaries verify identity and willingness — never the truth or legality of the document's contents.
What do I need to bring to a notary appointment in Texas?+
A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID for every signer, the complete document left unsigned, and any witnesses your document requires. If you're unsure whether witnesses are needed, note it when you book and we'll confirm before your time.
Can I sign the document before I arrive?+
No. Signatures must be made in the notary's presence — or acknowledged in person as your own. Bring the document complete but unsigned so nothing has to be reprinted.
What does NNA certification mean for me?+
National Notary Association certification means annual training, a passed exam, and a current background screening on top of the Texas commission and surety bond. In practice it means fewer rejected documents: correct certificate wording, proper journal records, and handling that title companies, lenders and courts accept the first time.
Do you offer mobile and remote appointments?+
Yes. We travel to your office, home or closing table across Texas, and we also perform remote online notarization for clients who cannot meet in person. Note your preference when booking.
What kinds of documents can you notarize?+
Loan and real estate packages, affidavits and sworn statements, powers of attorney, contracts and business agreements, and most personal documents. We cannot prepare, draft or advise on the content of a document — that is the practice of law.
